Practical courses in cell biology
Practical course in the Bachelors and Masters course for Chemical Biology at the faculty CCB benefit from a set of high quality fluorescence microscopes that enable quantititive analysis of complex cellular processes both in fixed and in living cells.

Live-cell microscopy video obtained during the cell biology practical course for Bachelor students of Chemical Biology. Shown is a cancer cell that was stimulated to enhance the dynamics of cell components that play critical roles in cell migration: filamentous actin (green) and non-muscle Myosin (magenta). Actin and Myosin are detected in living cells by genetic fusion with a green fluorescent protein from the jellyfish Aequorea or a red fluorescent protein from the coral Discosoma. The video shows a 300-fold accelerated timelapse and the cell has a diameter of about 80µm.
