I received both my Bachelor and Masters degree in Dortmund. For my Bachelor’s thesis in chemical biology I worked on protein-expression, -purification and -analysis. For my masters I moved towards nucleotide-based research, combining catalytically active DNA with complex coacervation.  The field of origin of life research really sparked my interest and resulted in joining the Mutschler Lab pursuing a PhD in 2022 to research possible protocell systems based on catalytically active nucleotides. I am working on the interface between chemistry and biology, using modern approaches like NGS. Outside the lab, as long as my cat does not demand my full attention, I enjoy playing video games, reading fantasy or sci-fi and watching every movie possible in the cinema.
