Application for the Master's degree program Chemical Biology

The Master's degree program Chemical Biology is based on the corresponding Bachelor's degree program. Therefore, not only comprehensive theoretical knowledge from the Bachelor's degree program is required, but also a comparable scope of laboratory courses in classical chemistry, biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry and molecular biology. Therefore, admission to the Master's degree program is only possible if the Bachelor's degree program is comparable to the B.Sc. degree program in Chemical Biology at TU Dortmund University.

It is possible to start the degree program in the winter and in the summer term. International students can find all the information about the application, deadlines etc. on our international office’s web page.

For details concerning the language requirements for the Master's degree program please see our website for international students.

Additional Documents for the Application

In addition to the documents required by uni-assist, please complete and submit the following two documents with your application.

1. Self-disclosure document for the Master's degree program Chemical Biology

This document lists all the criteria for the admission to our Master's degree program. Please complete the table about your lectures and other courses on the theory of classical chemistry, biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry and molecular biology (not laboratory courses). This will help us to assess your application and you to find out, if your degree program(s) is or are comparable to ours.

2. Form about important hands-on laboratory skill in Chemical Biology

In many cases, the credits on international graduates' transcripts and module descriptions are not comparable with the European Credit Transfer System. Therefore, we need information about the scope of your laboratory courses. The laboratory equipment, experiments, techniques and analytical methods are usually not listed in the module handbook. In addition, we need to know whether you have carried out hands-on experiments and how many students were in the groups. As a wide range of hands-on experience with different kinds of reactions is the prerequisite for our Master's degree program, you must be able to handle glassware, laboratory equipment and hazardous chemicals, taking into account safety regulations and environmental considerations.

Please add also a course catalogue/module manual as we need to be able to verify the information.
